Whidbey Island - Washington State (MMD Newswire) February 9, 2010 - Marilyn Randall, author/illustrator of several children's books will be the featured author in a live half hour interview to be aired February 10th at 12:00 noon central time for the program Book Bites For Kids. She will be talking about her five children's books, which were published last year and her newest one due to be published and available in April of 2010. Ms. Randall's talent is unique in that she is one of the few authors of that also illustrates her own work and this is a very rare combination found in the publishing industry. Her stories are about the social issues, which face children growing up in today's society as well as adults who also enjoy her work. She writes in the poetry format and illustrates them using small, characterized animals to visually help tell the story. Ms. Randall is a former graphic artist in the printing industry, having been a graphic production director in her earlier career. In her own words she talks about making the transition from artist to author; "I have always been involved with the art side of the printing industry, but to both write and illustrate is new for me. I love to write in rhyme and the poetry format for children is a natural because they all seem to love the cadence of poetry. As I am writing the story I visualize the characters I have chosen and by the time the story is completed I know exactly what I want the characters to look like and to do. I love bringing them to life with expressions and movement and use them to help the children see what the story is telling them."
