Fluxy & Julio by F.J. Montilla tells the story of a new friendship between a young boy and a visitor from outer space
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (MMD Newswire) February 11, 2010 -- Fluxy & Julio: A Universe of Wonder, an illustrated children's book by F.J. Montilla, follows a boy through space and time as he explores the universe with his new extraterrestrial friend. When Julio sees a strange meteor through his telescope one night, he never imagined it would fall right in his own backyard. What's more, he never dreamt it might be a spaceship carrying Fluxy, an alien girl from planet Mokzi on a scientific quest that brings her to Earth. Fluxy befriends Julio and invites him for a ride in her ship across the galaxy. The pair whiz past stars, worm holes, nebulae and black holes before returning home. "I hope this book can help children discover a love for the cosmos, science and storytelling," Montilla says. "Overcoming fears can lead to wonderful and unbelievable experiences and there is still much to be learned in our universe." The book features full-color illustration depicting all of Fluxy and Julio's adventures. In addition, it features a notes section where readers can see Julio's explanations of words or phrases about outer space. The story itself is told in rhyming verse in an effort to appeal to young readers and help them understand the narrative. Fluxy & Julio: A Universe of Wonder is available for sale online at Amazon.com and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.
