New sci-fi book flies through time travel in small town
The Ether by Ken Decato follows friends who must risk their lives to save the lives of those forced to travel through time.

GARDNER, Mass. (MMD Newswire) February 11, 2010 -- The Ether by Ken Decato seeks to combine mystery, romance and adventure to illustrate how time travel effects generations of people living in Sheldon, Mass., including those who sacrifice it all to put a stop to the source of the town's mysterious disappearances.

Sheldon resident Cy Hill always knew there was something peculiar about the forested areas around his small town. For years, people in the wrong place at the wrong time went missing becoming victims of "the eddies," a seemingly otherworldly phenomenon, capturing and carrying away anyone who may accidently be in their path to another time. When Cy is all of a sudden raising the dog of Dave Boudreau, his friend and a local who went missing a few years previously, he enlists the help of Lexi to find him by learning to use the eddies to put a stop to this time anomaly. Cy urges Dave's lost love, Annie, to keep hope alive, while he and Lexi work to right a few injustices from the past and future.

"The Ether illustrates how far a man will go to find his boyhood friend, how deeply a widow will mourn her husband's disappearance and what either will give up to make things right," says Decato. "Sometimes doing the right thing means sacrifice, but while it hurts to give in, it does not necessarily mean giving up."

Decato says Stephen Hawking and his explanation of the workings of astrophysiology influenced the storyline of The Ether. Decato is now working on a sequel. "When I wrote The Ether, I was letting out something that I felt was harbored inside and could only be released through the creative process of writing," says Decato. "We all need to be uplifted, and The Ether is, ultimately, an uplifting story."

The Ether is available for sale online at Amazon.com and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.
