Active criminal trial judge pens murder mystery
Judge Richard Rittenband draws from his professional experiences to create a fictional courtroom drama in A Capital Murder

HARTFORD, Conn. (MMD Newswire) February 11, 2010 -- A Capital Murder: State vs. Governor David Roberts by Judge Richard Rittenband moves to illustrate how even a state governor can be tried for murder.

In A Capital Murder, Anne Tremaine, a young and beautiful lawyer lobbyist, is strangled to death on Christmas morning in her luxury condominium a few miles south of the state capitol in Hartford, Conn. In a surprise that shocks the state as well as the nation, the popular governor, David Roberts, is arrested in his office and charged with her murder. He and Anne had a torrid love affair between his two marriages. Declaring his innocence, Governor Roberts hires Brian Kelly, a prominent criminal defense attorney and Becky Brown, a private investigator to clear his name. A high profile trial ensues, while Becky follows the trail of a state representative, a senator and the local mafia that ends in an explosive courtroom scene uncovering the truth behind Anne's murder.

A seasoned trial judge, Rittenband writes his book to be realistic. "I want to illustrate the true excitement of a courtroom and the realism of a private investigator's job," he says. "The cross examinations within the book are based on my own experiences as a judge and lawyer, and the investigative work is based on my experience as a counter intelligence agent."
