New crime fiction novel strives for deeper understanding of drug war
Roll Call, a suspense novel by Glenn Langohr, offers an insider's look at the problem of drugs from behind prison walls and proposes a solution to lower crime, reduce relapse into criminal behavior and curtail gang affiliation

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (MMD Newswire) February 22, 2010 -- Roll Call, by former inmate Glenn Langohr, seeks to reveal the dark depths of the modern war on drugs and the missteps he feels the American criminal justice system makes when imprisoning drug addicts.

Noted by Kirkus Discoveries to be a "harrowing, down-and-dirty depiction-sometimes reminiscent of Steven Soderbergh's Traffic-of America's war on drugs," Roll Call compares illegal drugs to the forbidden fruit in the biblical tale of Adam and Eve's temptation. In the novel, these forbidden substances lead to drug cartels, street gangs and drug addicts who become bigger criminals while incarcerated.

Langohr suggests that Roll Call offers a solution to many of the problems occurring in overcrowded prisons run by violence and segregated by race. Langohr proposes that inmates who are not incarcerated for violent crimes should be assisted in finding jobs prior to their release. One unique spin Langohr offers is using their own personal experiences and finding a creative outlet, be it writing a memoir or painting a picture. He hopes this will encourage the inmates that it is possible to establish a new way of life.

Langohr writes Roll Call from an insider's perspective, having served time on drug charges. The author's spiritual belief leads him to trust that everything happens for a reason. "I wanted to make all that I lived through have a purpose and open eyes to a deeper understanding of the drug war, prison unions and terror tactics, revealing another option for dealing with addiction," says Langohr.

Roll Call is available for sale online at Amazon.com and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.
