New book delivers innovative approach to understanding heart disease
The Simplified Handbook for Living With Heart Disease and Other Chronic Diseases by Warren and Donna Selkow provides valuable tips on surviving and living with heart disease

GLENDALE, Ariz. (MMD Newswire) February 25, 2010 -- The Simplified Handbook for Living With Heart Disease, a new book by cardiac patient Warren Selkow and caregiver wife Donna Selkow, works to teach patients how to live with heart disease from a firsthand perspective without the sometimes difficult to understand medical jargon.

According to the Selkows, the American Heart Association states about 70 million Americans are living with multiple chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and renal failure. Warren Selkow was diagnosed with serious heart disease in October 2000 at the age of 58 and required two open heart surgeries to replace two valves in his heart. He says that his book includes "everything I wish I had known when I was first diagnosed, but nobody told me."

Today Warren is thriving. "If we had known all the information at the outset of my illness, we would have avoided much pain, aggravation and grief." Warren credits his wife, Donna Selkow, for saving his life. In the book, the couple aims to use wit coupled with straightforward facts to convey what they discovered throughout the ordeal.

The Selkows hope readers will learn being diagnosed with heart disease is not the end of the world. A patient can recover and live a normal, healthy life, say the Selkows. They wrote The Simplified Handbook for Living With Heart Disease to be as informative and entertaining as it is enlightening.

The Simplified Handbook for Living With Heart Disease is available for sale online at Amazon.com, SimpleHand.org, and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.
